Tallowa Dam

In the hope of catching Australian Bass at a time when the fish are not very active, my son and I took to the roads and high country in the Southern Highlands NSW. No Bass but a great weekend.

We left for Coolendel on the Shoalhaven River but at Nowra Tackle World they told us to try Tallowa instead. We got there around 3pm and hit the water but no hits at all. When the sun went down it got cold very quick. Once we got the swag all set up, we put our ‘borek’ on the electric BBQ that’s at the grounds. Tummies full, we tried for carp in the dark but nothing happening – so we hit the sack at 8pm.

After a somewhat cold night, the morning wasn’t any warmer with heavy fog so we didn’t rush out of our sleeping bags. By 9am it had warmed up enough for us to be able to use our fingers to rig up but it was all to no avail. Seeing that we were not going to catch anything we slowly packed up and headed home via Robertson where we had the best bread and butter pudding and a hot coffee.

We got home around 3pm but thought we might try Audley in the Royal National Park for a fish but it just wasn’t going to happen.
